Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly fighting it out with Real Madrid and Lazio for the talented youngster.

Tottenham re reportedly keen to sign Fenerbahce youngster Elif Elmas, but they will face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Lazio.

And should Spurs win the race for the 19-year-old, it would show just how far they have come as a football club over the past few years.

According to Italian website Calcio Mercato, the north London outfit are trying to beat Madrid to Elmas’s signature, but that will obviously be easier said than done.

The Macedonia international is one of the most highly regarded young prospects in the game, and he could go on to become a real star at Tottenham.

Macedonian media outlet Skopje24 claims that the teenager is valued at around £18 million, so Spurs could easily afford the central midfielder.

Elmas has chalked up nine goals and nine assists in 78 career appearances – decent numbers for an orthodox central midfielder, and he will surely continue to get even better.

With Mousa Dembele looking likely to leave Tottenham in the summer, and Victor Wanyama reportedly not wanted in north London, the addition of youth and quality will be much needed, and Elmas fits the bill perfectly.

The biggest challenge for Spurs will be beating Madrid and Lazio to his signature, but with the exciting project that Mauricio Pochettino is currently overseeing at the club, there is no reason why they cannot tempt the Fenerbahce starlet in to choosing them instead of the European duo.
