Ovie Ejaria’s spell at Rangers did not exactly go to plan.
Despite some impressive performances which highlighted the Liverpool youngster’s class and craft in the centre of the park, consistency eluded the 21-year-old during his loan north of the border.
According to the Sun, he quickly grew unsettled under the guidance of Steven Gerrard at Rangers and therefore saw his season-long deal cut short ahead of the January transfer window.
The Sun is now reporting that Ejaria is set to leave Anfield again in the very near future. It is understood that the England U21 international is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a six-month loan move to Championship strugglers Reading.
Ejaria will link up with Jose Gomes’ side and could even made his debut as early as Saturday, when Reading are set to play Nottingham Forest.
A move to the Madejski mirrors Ejaria’s switch to Sunderland a year ago, though the midfielder will be hoping he avoids relegation from the Championship this time around.
Reading have played expansive and possession-based football since Gomes took over, particularly in the valiant FA Cup defeat at Manchester United on Saturday, and Ejaria should fit in nicely.
