Premier League duo Fulham and West Ham United reportedly need centre-backs and Inter Milan’s Ranocchia could be a solid addition.
Fulham are not quite as porous at the back as they were under Slavisa Jokanovic these days, but Claudio Ranieri still has a long way to go before he can lead the Cottagers away from the Premier League relegation zone.
With 47 goals conceded, Fulham have conceded the most goals in the top flight, five more than nearest challengers Burnley. And FC Inter News reports that Ranieri wants to solve the problem by signing his fellow Italian Andrea Ranocchia.
The 30-year-old Inter Milan defender is out of contract in the summer and will surely be allowed to leave the San Siro, having failed to make a single appearance in 2018/19 under Luciano Spalletti.
A cut-price deal could be on the cards then, although Fulham should perhaps be wary of Ranocchia’s rather underwhelming loan spell at Hull City in the second half of the 2016/17 season.
The former Italy international made 15 starts under Marco Silva for The Tigers but his spell in Humberside ended in relegation.
Calciomercato reported earlier on Monday that West Ham United were also interested in bringing Ranocchia to London during the January transfer window but Fulham arguably need him more.
