Celtic have announced that they have signed Timothy Weah on loan until the end of the season.
Chris Sutton certainly appears to be a lot more optimistic about Celtic’s January transfer window judging by his reaction on Twitter to the news that the Hoops announced on their official website that Timothy Weah has joined on loan.
Weah will spend the rest of the season on loan at Parkhead. The 18-year-old has scored two goals in six appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and has gained a handful of caps for the USA senior side.
It appears to be an extremely positive move from Celtic, who certainly needed to improve their attacking options with Odsonne Edouard the only striker available to Brendan Rodgers while Leigh Griffiths takes time away from the game.
Weah, of course, has big shoes to fill with his father considered one of the finest strikers of the last 30 years. But Sutton is optimistic that he could make a major impact during his time in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers certainly caught the eye with their movements in the early stages of the January window. And Sutton made no secret of the fact that he wanted to see Celtic step up and make their own statements in the market in response.
But it is clear from his reaction to the news that Weah has joined – following Oliver Burke through the door – that he is much happier about Rodgers’ squad following the latest deal.
