Paul Merson comments on Tottenham Hotspur’s title chances

Tottenham Hotspur are behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League table.

Former Arsenal attacking midfielder Paul Merson said on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (11:36am, January 4, 2019) that Tottenham Hotspur will not win the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham are third in the league table at the moment with 48 points from 21 matches, just two points behind second-placed Manchester City and six points behind leaders Liverpool.

Merson said on Sky Sports News on Friday morning (11:36am, January 4, 2019) regarding Tottenham’s chances of winning the league title this season: “For me, no, I don’t give them a chance because I just don’t think they have got it.”

Title challenge

Liverpool and City have been the two best teams in the Premier League so far this season and have also played the best football.

The league game between City and Liverpool last Thursday was scintillating, and showed why they are so good and are above the rest of the teams in the Premier League.

However, Tottenham’s chances cannot be written off just yet, especially as the North London outfit are only two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

Spurs are doing their business quietly and efficiently on the pitch, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side do have some quality footballers such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

Tottenham can certainly challenge Liverpool and City until the end of the season.
