Everyone wants an N’Golo Kante.
Not only is Chelsea’s little number seven arguably the greatest defensive midfielder anywhere in world football, a player with boundless energy who would make any back four look much stronger, he is a player blessed with real technical ability who can drive forward and open opposition defences with well-placed passes.
Kante has even added goals to his game this season too, scoring in Chelsea’s big 2-0 victory against Manchester City and netting the winner away at Crystal Palace on the final game of 2018.
But, if everything goes to plan, Tottenham Hotspur could soon have their own version of Chelsea’s Mr Reliable.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Spurs are on red alert with Franck Kessie’s future at AC Milan up in the air.
It is understood that Milan, who are fifth in Serie A, could be forced to let the £36 million-rated midfielder leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League – which is a genuine possibility with the Rossoneri looking particularly erratic under Gennaro Gattuso of late.
Now, Ivory Coast international Kessie might not be an established World Cup winner like Kante but he is one of those all-too rare midfielders who can do pretty much everything.
The 22-year-old combined impressive technical ability and a natural athleticism with tactical intelligence and an eye for goal. He’s hit 14 in the last two-and-a-half Serie A seasons and has only failed to start one league game since moving to Milan from Atalanta in 2017.
Tottenham’s Kante? Kessie is perhaps the closest they will ever get.
