Rangers are being linked with Fulham’s Kevin McDonald.

According to Football.London, Rangers have started preliminary talks with Fulham about a deal to sign midfielder Kevin McDonald.
The Gers are set to snap up four players, as the Glasgow Evening Times report that deals for Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis are imminent, as are pre-contract moves for Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones.
That would be a perfect start to the January transfer window for Rangers, boosting their titles hopes this season whilst also planning for next season and beyond.
Intriguingly though, another name strongly linked with Rangers this week is Fulham’s McDonald, with reports emerging earlier this week of Steven Gerrard’s interest in the 30-year-old.
Now, Football.London report that Rangers have made first contact with Fulham about a deal for McDonald, with preliminary talks underway.
The former Dundee man has struggled for playing time in the Premier League of late, and may be allowed to leave by new Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri during this month’s transfer window.

McDonald is a Scotland international and a strong midfielder with composure on the ball, but it’s fair to say that a deal at this stage with Rangers would be a huge surprise.
McDonald may just be a backup option in case anything goes wrong with Rangers’ move for Steven Davis, as signing both – when Gerrard already has Ross McCrorie, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Lassana Couliably – would be a real shock.
