Belkheir left Inter to join Italian side Brescia in the summer, and now Villa are said to be monitoring the situation.
French outlet Foot Mercato claim Aston Villa are monitoring former Inter Milan attacker Mouhamed Belkheir’s situation at Italian Serie B side Brescia, but face plenty of competition.
The 20-year-old made 46 appearances for Inter’s second string during his time at the Giuseppe Meazza, scoring 11 goals in that time but he failed to break into Inter’s senior side.
It saw him leave the Serie A outfit in the summer to join second-tier outfit Brescia, but he is still yet to make a breakthrough into the first team despite dropping a division.
Aston Villa have noticed that he could be frustrated at Brescia as he has managed just four reserve-team appearances, and are interested in luring the youngster to the Midlands.
But Dean Smith’s side are not alone in their interest for the one-time Algeria Under-23 international, with French trio Caen, Amiens or Strasbourg all interested in bringing Belkheir home – with his birthplace being Paris.
Belkheir has about two and a half years remaining on his contract at Brescia, but he may be tempted to leave the club in the near future if he cannot break into the senior side.
