Aston Villa could be set to lose their top scorer if Wolverhampton Wanderers do manage to buy him.

According to BBC Sport, Dean Smith plans to promote from within if Aston Villa do lose Tammy Abraham.

Abraham is currently on loan at Villa, but there are big fears that he could leave in the coming days.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to snap him up on a permanent deal from Chelsea, which would cut his loan short.

The loss of Abraham would be a major blow to Villa’s promotion hopes, as he has led the line brilliantly since arriving.

The England international striker already has 16 goals for the season and leads the Championship’s scoring charts.

But Smith reportedly feels that Villa already have cover within their squad to cope if Abraham does depart.

The claret and blues reportedly plan to use Jonathan Kodjia as a central striker or give Scott Hogan another chance to impress, with Smith not feeling that an addition is necessary.
