Rangers need a new striker after Umar Sadiq’s loan was cancelled.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made no secret of the fact he wants to sign a new striker.
The Gers only have two senior forwards at the club, Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty, after Umar Sadiq’s unsuccessful loan was smartly cancelled.
Rangers need to consider all their options, and this should involve rivalling Celtic for striker Aaron Connolly.
Republic of Ireland youth international Connolly is on Brighton’s books and his impressive performances this season have turned heads.
He is starring in the under-23’s Premier League 2, where he is the top scorer in the whole division with 11 goals.
The Sun report Celtic are interested in Connolly, who is also interesting Manchester City and Hoffenheim.
Rangers have had their eye on Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke, but he appears to be heading to sign with Crystal Palace on loan.
Connolly could get a unique football experience playing under Steven Gerrard.
He made his debut at Brighton at 17 in a cup game but has not had opportunities since.
If he is available on loan then Rangers should be competing to sign him, and they could get one over on rivals Celtic in the process too if they can get him signed.
