Celtic continue to be linked with Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Dunajska Streda sporting director Jan Van Daele has told the Daily Mail that Celtic have made a bid for striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

It’s hardly a secret that Celtic need a new striker; Moussa Dembele was sold in August and not replaced, whilst Leigh Griffiths is currently taking a break from football.

That has left Odsonned Edouard as the only recognised centre forward, and whilst Timothy Weah could arrive from Paris Saint-Germain, another option is needed.

The latest speculation has linked Dunajska Streda star Bayo with a move to Parkhead, having made a name for himself over in Slovakia.

The 21-year-old has hit 18 goals and seven assists in 23 games this season, with his red-hot form attracting Celtic’s attention.

Now, Dunajska Streda sporting director Van Daele has confirmed that Celtic have made a bid, and more talks with the Bhoys will be imminent.

“We confirm we have received an official offer from Celtic of which we acknowledged receipt. We are planning to start the negotiation process in due course,” he added.

The Ivorian could be a smart signing for the Bhoys given his huge potential, but there could be a twist in the tale if Celtic aren’t careful.

The Daily Mail note that Parma and Rapid Vienna also want to sign Bayo, so if Celtic are sure about a move for him, they need to do it quickly.
