The US rock supergroup have a lot planned for the year ahead.

The Raconteurs formed in 2005, much to the intrigue of music fans around the globe in thanks to their line-up. The band is formed of Jack White (The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, solo career), Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler (of The Greenhornes, the former also coming from The Dead Weather), but also Brendan Benson. The group came together in Detroit, Michigan, determined to collaborate and share in their love of such genres as blues, garage and of course indie-rock.

The band’s 2006 debut-album Broken Boy Soldiers was a success, and music magazine Mojo even awarded it with the best album of the year title. It earned them two Grammy nominations, and is regularly revisited by fans of Jack White’s career. They followed the record up with their second effort Consolers of the Lonely in 2008, which contained the smash single “Salute Your Solution”. It earned them yet another two Grammy nominations, and they actually went on to win in the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical category.

However, their status in the following years was rather ambiguous, with the members appearing to pursue other projects and passions. As the years went by, it looked like a third record from The Raconteurs was dead in the water. Yet, there has been recent news that the band’s second album will receive a deluxe re-release from Third Man Records, and that’s not all. It looks like a third album is currently in the works, and after such a long absence it’s likely that the group were compelled to reform and work on material they have had in their minds for some time.

It was Brendan Benson which broke the news, announcing that 2019 will bring fans of the band a tour, along with their first album in just over a decade. It’s certainly got many excited, and it may boast some of their best material to date. Stay tuned.
