The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is said to have identified the midfielder as an alternative to the former Ibrox favourite, Steven Davis.

Rangers fans are reacting on Twitter to reports linking Kevin McDonald with a move to Ibrox.

The Daily Record claims McDonald's is one of the names on Rangers' list of Steven Davis alternatives - adding that Fulham have made clear "they will not be difficult to deal with if McDonald wishes to leave the club" in January, after the Scotland international fell out of favour under Claudio Ranieri.

And Davis is strongly tipped to fill the void left by the Liverpool youngster, despite his rumoured £65,000-a-week wages.
