Tottenham Hotspur are behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League table at the moment.
Jason Roberts has suggested on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur should consider themselves among the Premier League title contenders this season.
The former West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic striker has revealed what people at Tottenham with whom he works have told him.
Where did I mention “spurs officials insisted” ..I said “Spurs”.. and I happen to work with Spurs people who insist.. quite rightly that they want to be taken seriously in the Title race! ps..don’t you believe/expect Spurs to be in the Title race at this point? https://t.co/CptAIDFKqx— Jason Roberts (@JasonRoberts30) December 30, 2018
This is the part I don’t get Chris..Spurs are a fantastic great club with history to rival anyone..why can’t the expectation be to win the league? To win a title..should have won it when Leicester did! Seems I have higher expectations for Spurs than many fans..seems strange.. https://t.co/BKfEVsltpb— Jason Roberts (@JasonRoberts30) December 30, 2018
Tottenham are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 45 points from 20 matches.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are just two points behind second-placed Manchester City and nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
Liverpool and City have been the two best and most entertaining teams in the Premier League, but Tottenham have been quite consistent and have gone about their business quietly so far this campaign.
Spurs should consider themselves among the contenders for the title, especially as there are still 18 rounds of matches left in the league this season.
Liverpool could suffer a drop in form in the coming months, while recent defeats for City suggest that Pep Guardiola’s side are not perfect.
Tottenham will return to action on New Year’s Day when they take on Cardiff City away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Premier League.
