Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to reports that Motherwell want to sign Ross McCormack

Aston Villa fans celebrate their sides first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Birmingham City at Villa Park on November 25, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack is reportedly drawing interest from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.

Aston Villa supporters on Twitter have reacted with joy that Scottish Premiership side Motherwell want to sign striker Ross McCormack on loan in January.

Sky Sports are reporting that McCormack, who is currently on loan at Australian side Central Coast Mariners, is ready to return to Fir Park on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

It is said that the 32-year-old is keen to cut short his loan spell in the A-League and return closer to home with the Glasgow-born player representing Motherwell over ten years ago.

McCormack, who is a 13-cap Scotland international, was a big-money signing for Villa following their relegation to the Championship in 2016, but the former Fulham man struggled to make a name for himself at Villa Park.

He has not played for the club since September 2017 and has only made 23 appearances for the club over a two-year period, scoring three goals and supplying only one assist.

Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise to see Villa supporters on Twitter glad to see the back of their striker, albeit on a temporary basis.

A number of supporters offered to drive McCormack to Motherwell, while another urged Villa to 'sell him' rather than loan him out once again.

One Villa fan stated that 'January could be interesting' in regards to the transfer rumour mill surrounding the club as they push for a promotion place.
