The Blades captain is now level with Rickie Lambert in terms of most goals scored in the English leagues since 2000.
The prolific striker opened the scoring for the Blades at Bramall Lane after hooking an effort home on 73 minutes he before firing past David Raya to double their lead four minutes later.
David McGoldrick then connected with John Fleck's cross and bundled into the back of the Blackburn net via his chest to make sure of all three points in South Yorkshire.
Sharp's contributions have put him level on goals with Rickie Lambert in terms of scoring the most English league goals since the turn of the century, both now sitting on 219, according to The Star.
The 32-year-old Sheffield native now has 14 goals from 23 appearances for United this season for a total of 92 from 223 appearances and 228 in all competitions over his career, according to Transfermarkt.
However, it's the record-equalling achievement that now sees the spotlight on Sharp and, following the game, some Blades fans took to Twitter to express their opinions on their star man:

No one has scored more goals this century. And the only person to score as many (Rickie Lambert) took 110 more games to do it! Billy Sharp ... absolute legend.— Keith Gregory #FBPE (@ZenKite) December 29, 2018
That’s fantastic news. Let’s only hope he scores Premier League goals next year.— Andreas Georgakarakos (@andreas_GRK) December 29, 2018
