The Everton star had one to forget this afternoon.

Some Everton fans on Twitter are ripping into Seamus Coleman for his performance in this afternoon’s 1-0 defeat at Brighton.

The Republic of Ireland international didn’t look to be at the races in regards to attacking or defending, it has to be said.

Everton could and certainly should have gone into the break with at least a 1-0 lead, with Coleman missing a gilt-edged chance.

The 30-year-old fluffed a golden opportunity on the half-hour mark by taking a touch instead of shooting from eight yards out.

It went on to be a costly miss for the Toffees and quite a few fans of the Merseyside club weren’t completely happy with the Irishman on Twitter.

Here is how they reacted to his miss:

Coleman is usually one of the more popular players among Everton fans, but it’s clear that many of them weren’t happy with him today.

He certainly appears to have lost a little bit of confidence in recent months, looking nothing like the electric player that he once did for Everton.

But form is temporary and class is important, and the long-serving star might hope to remind the Goodison Park faithful of this adage shortly.
