The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder assisted his side's winner at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.

Barry Bannan's performance for Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day even had some Middlesbrough fans purring.

Bannan was restored to Wednesday's starting XI at the Riverside Stadium after a two-match man.

 

And the Scotland international, a reported Middlesbrough target before he signed a new Owls contract in August, was quick to make up for lost time.

It was his defence-splitting pass from which Adam Reach scored the game's only goal midway through the first half, before another almost led to a second for Steven Fletcher after half-time.
