But despite seeing their side score twice to overturn what looked to have been a last-minute winner for Blackburn, Leeds fans do not appear to have forgotten.
Raya appeared to awake from his slumber to celebrate Charlie Mulgrew's goal in exuberant style, having spent the bulk of the second half operating in slow motion - much to the Whites' fans' frustration.
But the Spaniard was left with egg on his face after Kemar Roofe's quickfire double, which kept Leeds top of the Championship.
And he has since found himself bombarded with tweets from those of a United persuasion...
@daviidraya1 you must’ve shagged yourself out running down the pitch in your cup final... and then conceding 2 in 2 minutes! Absolute class! Thanks for the 3 points #ALAW #MOT #LUFC @LUFC @roofe39 @TalkingShutt @SJWilson30 @LadToLeeds— HullWhites (@WhitesHull) December 27, 2018
Imagine being @daviidraya1 today after running full length of the pitch to celebrate #Blackburn 2nd goal, giving it big licks to the crowd- only to concede twice in the next 5 minutes . Nice one mate- bet that felt awesome #LEEBLA #alaw #mot #LeedsUnited— Chris Delaney (@ChrisGoEco) December 26, 2018
@daviidraya1 old saying in life old boy. Don't blow your load too early. You've learnt a profound lesson today. A profound lesson indeed. On and on!— Matthew Townsley (@TigerTowns88) December 26, 2018
Let’s just take time out to remember @daviidraya1 running the full length of the pitch to celebrate with the fans as if they’d just won the league, then 4 minutes later walking off the pitch with his shirt over his head after conceding 2 goals in injury time #lufc #brfc— Dave Mckenna (@mckenna_dave) December 26, 2018
Remember when you ran 100 metres to celebrate before conceding 2 goals in 3 minutes like a dickhead hahahaha @daviidraya1— Dan (@lufc_dan) December 26, 2018
Didn't move that quick when taking goal kicks at 1-1— Damon Chandler (@damonlufc88) December 26, 2018
A Derrick Williams own goal gave Leeds a half-time lead over Blackburn, but Mulgrew's brace had Raya sprinting down the Elland Road pitch.
The visitors' lead lasted less than two minutes, with the Whites back in front within six.
What can stop Leeds United now?
