Conor Shaughnessy appears to have lost his way at Leeds United this season.

Conor Shaughnessy should seriously consider looking at trying to secure a loan move when the January transfer window opens as he continues to struggle to push into the first-team picture at Leeds.
Shaughnessy made nine Championship appearances during his first season at Elland Road. But while several under-23 players have featured regularly in Marcelo Bielsa’s squads this term, the defender has become something of a forgotten man.
The 22-year-old’s one appearance of the campaign came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Preston North End back in August. He has not been in a matchday squad since.
When Leeds had Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Liam Cooper all on the sidelines at the same time, it appeared that Shaughnessy would stand a great chance of ending that wait for a chance.

However, it has been Aapo Halme who has been promoted, while Kalvin Phillips has also been used at the back.
Shaughnessy is reaching an age where he needs to start really proving that his potential can be realised. He does have a contract until 2021, according to the club’s official website, but that was signed at a time when he was featuring fairly regularly in the first-team.
And perhaps the best way for Shaughnessy to prove that he can make the grade at Leeds, if Bielsa is not planning to use him anytime soon – is to go out on loan next month.
