Seamus Coleman struggled as Everton were beaten in their latest Premier League clash.

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that the time has come to replace Seamus Coleman after the right-back endured a miserable afternoon in the Toffees’ defeat to Spurs.

Everton were beaten 6-2 at Goodison Park as Tottenham seemed to put on a masterclass in attacking football. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son both scored twice, while Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen also got on the scoresheet.

Marco Silva’s men have shown some positive signs at times this season. But the defeat highlighted how much work there is still to do on Merseyside.

And several Toffees supporters feel that replacing Coleman – who earns £38,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – needs to be a priority after he struggled to contain Mauricio Pochettino’s men when they attacked down Everton’s right flank.

Son, in particular, seemed to ensure that the Republic of Ireland international had a nightmare time, and Spurs managed to punish any mistakes that the Everton defence managed to make.

And in response to his performance, several fans insisted that, as brilliant a servant as Coleman has been, Silva now must look at signing a better right-back in the January transfer window as he is proving to be a weaker link within the Toffees side.
