Leeds United fans have responded to Tyler Roberts’s comments about replacing Samuel Saiz on HITC Sport.

Roberts recently suggested to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he is ready to replace Samuel Saiz in the Leeds team.

Saiz is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Championship, but the Spaniard is leaving the West Yorkshire outfit for Spanish club Getafe on loan in the January transfer window.

Leeds will need a replacement for the 27-year-old, who can also operate as a forward, and Roberts has suggested that he is ready for that role.

“I’d definitely say I can play in the no 10 role and do a nice job there,” Roberts told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I do like coming into pockets and linking up and getting on the ball so it might be something to look at but not for me to say.”

Roberts can play as a striker or as a winger, and has been on the books of Leeds since January 2018 when he joined from West Bromwich Albion for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £2.5 million.

The 19-year-old has had injury problems during his time at Elland Road so far, but the youngster is very talented.

The striker has made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Leeds so far this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Leeds fans, though, are not convinced that Roberts can play as a number 10 and have had their say on Roberts’s comments on HITC Sport.

Below are some of the best comments:

Peter Duval: “Laughable.”

Ranger Moore: “Lol.. If it was April 1st I would expect him to say that lol..But it ain't the first day of April.. -:) Seriously overeating himself.”

The Carthoss: “Every player wants to get in the starting 11 and Roberts is hoping he can weasel his way in. that's all it will ever be hope.”

Mal Reid: “That's cheered me up for the day.”

Thinlizzywhite: “A bold statement indeed.”

Stevo: “Haven't seen enough to warrant any inclusion, in any position. Nice try Tyler!”

The Carthoss: “I think I'll get my boots back out if Roberts thinks he can do the job in place of Saiz.”

Henrymouni: “If we could sort the right back position out, I would prefer to see Shackleton in the no 10 Samu roll.”
