Reports in Jos Luhukay’s native Netherlands claim the Sheffield Wednesday manager has been ‘fired’.
Luhukay has overseen a run of just one win and seven defeats from 10 matches since leading the Owls to sixth in the Championship at the start of October.
Nevertheless, the 55-year-old was this week backed by the Wednesday chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, although he was suspiciously absent from Friday’s pre Preston North End press conference at Middlewood Road.
And according to De Limburger, Luhukay has paid the price for his side’s disappointing performances.
Luhukay was appointed as Carlos Carvalhal’s replacement at Sheffield Wednesday in January, and looked to have turned things around by the end of last season, which the Owls ended in 15th place.
But a transfer embargo which lasted almost the entirety of the summer window put a dent in the Dutchman’s plans for the new campaign.
Chansiri claimed at a fans’ forum this week that he is putting the club up for sale, which could hinder his chances of finding a replacement.
