RB Leipzig’s 10-goal Bundesliga forward Timo Werner is reportedly a target for Bundesliga giants Bayern and Premier League powerhouses Liverpool.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich are set to go head-to-head in a glamour Champions League knockout tie in the spring. But, before then, the Premier League and Bundesliga giants could be set for a battle in the transfer market, too.

According to Abendzeitung, Liverpool have a ‘serious interest’ in the thrilling RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner – a man who has also caught the eye of Bayern with his prolific displays in the German top flight.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp’s side sent scouts to watch Werner in action during Leipzig’s home game against Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of December. And they will surely have been impressed, given that the 22-year-old scored both goals in a 2-0 win.

In total, Werner has scored 10 goals in 15 league starts for Leipzig this season and is set to comfortably surpass his tally of 13 from 2017/18.

Since moving to Leipzig from Stuttgart two-and-a-half years ago, and being converted from a sprightly winger into a ruthless centre-forward, Werner has hit the net 44 times in just 71 Bundesliga starts.

And with speed, versatility and a clinical streak in front of goal, he looks a perfect fit for Klopp’s free-flowing style.
