Cardiff City could be about to have a new record signing for the first time in five years. Because it seems that Neil Warnock’s side are on the verge of a substantial transfer coup with Emiliano Sala allegedly on his way to South Wales.
The in-form Nantes striker has been a man in demand after scoring 12 goals in 13 Ligue 1 games in a remarkable start to the season.
As a result, a number of Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest. The Mail claimed in November that Everton, Wolves, Fulham and West Ham were keen on the rangy Argentine but it seems that Cardiff are in a great position to win the race.
This would make Sala the most expensive signing in Cardiff’s history, exceeding the £11.5 million they spent on Chilean midfielder Gary Medel in the summer of 2013.
In quotes reported by the BBC earlier in December, Cardiff manager Neil Warnock revealed that he had travelled to France to watch Sala in action in a league game against Marseille.
"He has scored some good goals this year," said the 70-year-old. "He didn't have a very good game the other night, but he's done well.”
