It has been a difficult season for Jack Harrison. The Leeds United winger has shown in glimpses that he is capable of having an impact at Elland Road, but no-one could have foreseen the breakthrough of Jack Clarke.
Indeed, Harrison scored a late equaliser against bitter rivals Millwall to the delight of the Leeds support, smashing home a left-footed effort from 20 yards to draw 1-1 in the dying moments.
But 18-year-old Clarke has broken into the senior side of late and has impressed. Marcelo Bielsa's preference is to turn to the Thorp Arch academy product off the bench, rather than ex-New York City man Harrison.
Harrison still remains a part of the Leeds 18 despite failing to start a match since October, and managing just two sub appearances since his last start which came in the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town.
But Leeds are now reportedly in the hunt to sign £5million-rated winger Rajiv van La Parra from Huddersfield Town ahead of the January transfer window, with Middlesbrough also keen.
The Sun state that both Leeds and Middlesbrough are after van La Parra, who could join either side on loan with a view to a permanent £5million move in the summer.
Even if Leeds do not sign van La Parra, their interest in another winger would surely come as demoralising for Harrison, who has been forced to get minutes in the reserves.
Adding another winger to the promotion-chasing squad, especially in the form of van La Parra would push England youth international Harrison down the pecking order even further.
That would see him fail to make the matchday squads and surely then, if Leeds sign van La Parra, Harrison may have to consider cancelling his loan and returning to Manchester City.
