The Spurs and England full-back will be taken out to dinner by the Dutch darts icon should the Three Lions beat the Netherlands in the Nations League.

Following their 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, several Tottenham Hotspur players went to Alexandra Palace to indulge in a spot of darts.

Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose were photographed with Michael van Gerwen backstage as the world number one began his quest for a third World Championship title.

The Dutch darts ace got his campaign underway with a 3-1 win over St Helens thrower Alan Tabern, shaking off an unsavoury incident in which a member of the audience threw beer at him.

With England facing the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League next year, Trippier was filmed on camera making a bet with Van Gerwen that the Three Lions would emerge victorious from the clash.

As part of the wager, the loser would take the winner out to dinner at Novikov, a London restaurant, and pay for both meals, with Trippier and Ven Gerwen shaking on it:

Some Tottenham fans reacted to the good-natured bet on Twitter:

The game between Trippier’s England and the Netherlands is set to take place on 6 June 2019, with the winning team set to take on either Switzerland or Portugal in the final three days later.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans will be hoping that their full-back’s confidence can translate to domestic affairs, with Spurs still very much in the Premier League title race.
