Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace are both said to be keen on each other’s strikers.

According to a report on TeamTalk, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough could swap Connor Wickham for Britt Assombalonga in January.

Wickham has struggled for appearances at Palace in recent times, with his injury problems keeping him out of the side for long periods.

The Eagles are now on the hunt for a new striker, as Roy Hodgson look to add firepower to his team, and Middlesbrough’s Assombalonga is on his radar.

Assombalonga has never played at Premier League level before, but he is one of the most dangerous front men in the Championship.

There is a feeling that Assombalonga isn’t ideally suited to Boro boss Tony Pulis’ style though.

And a deal which sees Wickham, who was once valued at £7 million (BBC Sport), come to the Riverside in exchange for Assombalonga could now be struck in January.

Palace and Boro both need forwards for differing reasons, as they look to improve over the second half of the season.

The Eagles are currently fighting against the drop in the Premier League, while Middlesbrough are aiming to get promoted back to the top tier.
