Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Adam Forshaw told him that they would have lost against Bolton Wanderers if the game had taken place last season.

Leeds beat Bolton 1-0 at the weekend, without being at their best.

The Whites managed to grind out a victory, with Bamford scoring the winning goal in the contest.

The Leeds summer signing finished well from inside the box, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side picked up yet another victory.

And Bamford admits that Forshaw explained to him the big change at Elland Road this season.

Bamford said: “That showed the unity of the team. Forsh (Adam Forshaw) came to me after the game and said, ‘Last year we’d have probably ended up drawing that game. We wouldn’t have hung on.’ “That says a lot about how much we’ve grown and how much the coaches have had an influence on us.

“The belief amongst us has changed because it’s basically the same core group of players that were playing for Leeds last year, but the difference is massive.

“I didn’t watch Leeds much last year, but as you were playing against them you can see from then to now how much we’ve grown.”

Leeds finished in mid-table last season, with their form poor over the second half of the campaign.

The Whites have been improved massively this term though, without even making drastic changes to their squad.

Leeds are now sat at the top of the Championship table, and they have built up a six point cushion inside the automatic promotion spaces.
