Brendan Rodgers has been unable to take Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard out of his team at Parkhead in recent weeks.

Kenny Miller has suggested to BBC Sport that Brendan Rodgers needs to take Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard out of his starting line-up.

Edouard has been forced to start relentlessly for Celtic of late, with the 20-year-old having to shoulder a lot of the Bhoys’ goalscoring burden.

Unfortunately for Celtic, Edouard has looked well short of his best of late.

The youngster has hit just one goal in his last five league matches for Celtic.

And Miller feels that Celtic need to bring in a striker in January to give Rodgers the options of taking Edouard out of the team.

“Odsonne Edouard’s still a young player,” Miller said. “He’s played a lot of football, he’s having to play a lot of football. He was just off it against Hibs.

“You need to have the option to be able to take him out of the team. That game or two or three out of the team could just bring him on, freshen him back up and get him back to his best but at the moment that doesn’t seem like it’s an option.”

Celtic were beaten by Hibernian at the weekend, with Edouard once again failing to pose much of a threat.

The Celtic frontman never got going, as Rodgers’ side fell to a rather concerning defeat.

Celtic are now in third place in the Scottish Premiership table, although they do have a game in hand over the teams ahead of them.
