Sobowale is the cousin of Bayern Munich star David Alaba, but is currently plying his trade in non-league football. He was released by Chelsea at 15 due to his size, according to the Mail, and has since enjoyed trials with a number of Football League sides.
And it appears that the youngster could soon be back on his way to one of the top two divisions. The Daily Mail reports that Wednesday are interested, while Watford, Cardiff City and the Owls' Championship rivals Reading are also monitoring the situation.
The Mail adds that he scored in trial matches for both Cardiff and Barnsley, and is now close to sealing a professional deal.
Given his availability, it may well be worth the gamble for one of the teams interested in a potential deal. Wednesday have a decent group of strikers currently, but do find themselves languishing in the bottom-half of the table following their 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday.
Sobowale is unlikely to solve their problems if he did come in, but if Jos Luhukay is working with a tight budget heading into January, they may as well have a look to see whether Alaba's cousin has the potential to be a player capable of plying his trade at the higher levels.
