Glasgow Rangers are reportedly keen to bring the striker to Ibrox in January, but they face plenty of competition for his signature.

Steven Gerrard’s search for a new striker has seen Rangers eye up a potential move for Fran Sol, according to the Sunday People (16/12; page 49), but the Gers will have to see off competition from a number of rivals for his signature.
Sol has enjoyed a remarkable season in the Eredivisie, scoring 12 goals in just 16 appearances for Willem II. Meanwhile at Ibrox, although Alfredo Morelos has been sensational for much of the campaign, Gerrard does not have the depth up front that he would like.
Kyle Lafferty has had a difficult spell since returning in the summer, and Umar Sadiq’s disappointing loan looks to be over. And The Sunday People reports that Sol is one option that Rangers have their eye on heading into January.

Celtic have much more urgent striker depth issues with the news that Leigh Griffiths is set for a spell away from the game. Odsonne Edouard’s form has been criticised lately – he has scored once in his last seven appearances for the Hoops – and Brendan Rodgers will surely want a January addition up front.
Sol would be an extremely exciting addition for either Rangers or Celtic. He is the kind of forward who needs no encouragement to get towards the six-yard box when he senses a chance may come his way.

But while he has the positional sense of a real poacher, he offers plenty of versatility. He is lethal when the ball is drilled across the box, but also provides an aerial threat when crosses are floated in.
Given his form and his ruthless nature inside the box, he could be a fantastic signing for Rangers or Celtic with a new striker seemingly set to be at the top of both sides’ wishlists.
