Aston Villa are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper in January.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland may have shown some small improvements in recent weeks, but Dean Smith is still likely to target a new goalkeeper in January.
Andre Moreira is a forgotten may at Villa Park whilst Mark Bunn isn't a promotion-winning goalkeeper, meaning a new signing is surely in mind for Smith and co next month.
A number of goalkeepers are being touted for a move to Villa Park, and one more player they should also be considering is Southampton's Fraser Forster.
Forster, 30, was an England international and a regular for Southampton up until Boxing Day 2017, when he played his last game for the Saints in a 5-2 defeat at Tottenham.
Almost a year on, Forster has been almost completely forgotten about having failed to play a single game, and he is now third-choice at Southampton behind Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn.
Forster – who earns around £65,000-a-week according to The Express – is surely going to move on in January, and Villa should be looking at the 6ft 7in giant.
At just 30, Forster still has plenty in the tank as a goalkeeper, and would be desperate to go out and play and impress having been left out in the cold at Southampton, and if Villa can get him back to the form that made him an England international, he could be one of their smartest signings.
