Claudio Ranieri has been linked with a whole host of his former Leicester City players since taking over at Fulham in November.
TEAMtalk claimed that the affable Italian wanted to reunite with Danny Simpson, Christian Fuchs, Shinji Okazaki and Danny Drinkwater in the January transfer window.
And, according to the Mail, Islam Slimani is on Ranieri’s radar, too, despite the fact that the striker was far from prolific during the veteran manager’s time at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester broke their transfer record to sign Slimani from Sporting Lisbon for £30 million in the summer of 2016. But, as reported by the Mail, Ranieri is confident that he can get the best out of the Algerian international if he can bring him to Fulham in the New Year.
Whether a deal is possible remains to be seen. Slimani is currently halfway through a season-long loan spell at Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce from Leicester, scoring just three goals in 16 games for the Istanbul-based outfit.
On paper, Slimani’s physicality and fearsome aerial prowess appears to make him a good fit for English football. But the 30-year-old scored just eight top-flight goals at Leicester and none during a loan spell at Newcastle United.
