Cardiff City have been linked with Everton’s Oumar Niasse.

According to a report in the Mirror (live transfer blog, 08/12 at 15:56), Cardiff City are weighing up a January loan move for Everton’s Oumar Niasse, as they seek to bolster their attacking ranks.
The report goes on to say that a move to Cardiff interests Niasse as he is looking for an exit from Goodison Park following a lengthy spell out of the first-team under manager Marco Silva.
Cardiff were considered by many to be one of the favourites for relegation this season, but so far Neil Warnock’s side have acquitted themselves well and are currently placed outside the bottom three, following their 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.
A couple of signings in January would go a long way to boosting Cardiff’s survival hopes, and a new striker must be at the top of Warnock’s wish-list – as wide man Josh Murphy tops the Bluebirds’ scoring charts with just three goals.
Niasse joined Everton in February 2016 on a four-and-a-half-year deal, but he has struggled to make an impression with the Toffees, and didn’t fare much better on loan at Hull City in the 2016-17 campaign, scoring just four goals.
The Senegal international did manage to score eight Premier League goals for Everton last term, but he has struggled for game-time under Silva – failing to make the match-day 18 for the past 10 games, with summer signing Richarlison a regular starter.

Niasse would be a step up on the likes of Cardiff trio Gary Madine, Kenneth Zohore and Danny Ward, and bringing him on loan would be extremely smart business for the club.
Everton may prefer to sell him on a permanent basis, but a decent spell on loan at Cardiff could put him in the shop window in the summer, and Cardiff might like first option on any permanent deal in any case.
