Kieran Tierney did not play for Celtic against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told the club’s official website that Kieran Tierney will be fit for the match against RB Salzburg.

Tierney did not feature for Celtic in their 5-1 hammering of Kilmarnock at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon due to injury.

Rodgers, though, has said that the 21-year-old left-back will be available for their Europa League Group B game against Salzburg on Thursday evening.

“Kieran wasn’t quite right,” Rodgers told Celtic’s official website. “We could have put him in but it would have been a risk when we have someone like Emilio there, who was outstanding today.

“Kieran should be fine and ready for Thursday. He had a slight issue around his groin area and we didn’t want to risk it.”

Positive update

Celtic will not find it easy against Salzburg and will have to give their all in order to get even a point on Thursday evening.

The Glasgow giants can still progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League this season, and the availability of Tierney for such a key game is certainly great news for the Hoops.

Weekend encouraging

The 5-1 hammering of Kilmarnock will have certainly boosted the confident of Celtic, given their their opponents on Saturday were at the top of the league table at the start of the match.

Celtic’s bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers also dropped points on Sunday afternoon, as Steven Gerrard’s side played out a 1-1 draw with Dundee away from home.
