Aston Villa drew with West Bromwich Albion on Friday.
Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Jonathan Kodjia against West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns on Friday evening.
Kodjia did not start the Championship game for Villa against West Brom, but the former Bristol City forward came on as a substitute in the 82nd minute.
According to WhoScored, the Ivory Coast international had a pass accuracy of 50%, made one tackle, and attempted one dribble.
The 29-year-old - who joined Villa from Bristol City in the summer of 2016 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £11 million and when Roberto Di Matteo was in charge of the Villans - has made 15 starts and six substitute appearances in the Championship for Dean Smith’s side so far this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
Villa fans were not pleased with the display produced by Kodjia against West Brom and have questioned his role in the Baggies’ equaliser in injury time.
Below are some of the best comments on Twitter:
With all the fuss over the refs and Nyland, everyone has seemed to forget that Kodjia stopped tracking Philips because he thought the ball was going out. It didn’t - they crossed it and scored. #avfc— AVFCDAILY (@AVFC_Daily) December 8, 2018
Why is nobody questioning Kodjia’s tracking back for their second goal? Left our defence completely exposed. #AVFC— Joe (@AvGrant1) December 8, 2018
Don’t think you can blame the goalkeeper on that one as he was fouled but Kodjia should of been tracking the runner!! Once again a poor decision goes against us. You would of thought Albion won that the way they celebrated that goal, joke club!! #AVFC #UTV— Ginger Luke (@footymadluke123) December 7, 2018
We deserved the 3 points. Fantastic effort from all the players tonight aside from Kodjia who should hang his head in shame for his half arsed showing when he came on. Always forgive a lack of ability or a poor game but not a lack of effort #avfc— Mark (@markavfc40) December 7, 2018
I think kodjia might be under threat in Jan. He's not really a winger is he. I can see Smith trying for Watkins or someone else to compete with Ghazi and Bolasie #AVFC— Harry Johnson (@avfc_johnson) December 7, 2018
Kodjia might well be dropped now for his actions not tracking back. Ghazi is class though #AVFC— Harry Johnson (@avfc_johnson) December 7, 2018
Frustrating end to the game. Good performance away from home but shocking officiating cost us. Kodjia poor when he came on - lazy. #avfc— Richard Skidmore (@richskidmore32) December 7, 2018
Kodjia was really poor when he come on then, his tracking back for that second goal was embarrassing! #avfc would have took the point before! UTV— Callum (@Villacallum) December 7, 2018
He is not happy with his role at min and when he came on he looks to try to hard— greg kealy (@tempovilla2006) December 7, 2018
.he is always looking to beat the player and thats the problem ...he plays better up front but he doesnt play well as a loan striker so he aint a straight swap for abraham
