According to The Express, Rangers are interested in signing Solanke from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
It has been reported that Steven Gerrard’s side want to secure the services of the 21-year-old striker on loan.
Former Rangers star Butcher, who played for the Ibrox club from 1986 until 1990, has suggested that Solanke would be a good signing for the Gers.
Butcher told The Express: “You look at younger players on loan, look at the England players there’s some really good players that need to get playing, but clubs won’t let players go unless they’re going to come to Rangers and play.
“They don’t want them sitting on the bench for five minutes they want them getting experience and playing so there is that to look at and traditionally in January there not a lot of real talent there so they’re probably going to have work with what they’ve got until they can get someone like a Solanke that’s going to be hungry.
“Hungry youngsters will do very well I think and will fit into the pattern of the team and the way they want to play and particularly when you’re playing with a club like Rangers.”
Rangers are not the only club who are reported to be interested in signing Solanke from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The England international is struggling for playing time at Liverpool, and one suspects that it will not be hard to persuade the 21-year-old - who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com - to leave Anfield on loan in January.
