Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Fabio Borini.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle United are interested in snapping up AC Milan attacker Fabio Borini in January.
Newcastle already have a whole host of ex-Sunderland players at the club, having brought in Javi Manquillo, DeAndre Yedlin and Ki Sung-yueng under Rafael Benitez’s management.
Fans won’t exactly want to see Benitez sign more players with history of playing for Newcastle’s biggest rivals, but another former Mackem is being linked.
Tuttomercatoweb report that AC Milan attacker Borini could leave the San Siro in January, and Newcastle are keen to bring him back to the Premier League.
Interest in an attacker is no great surprise, and Borini’s versatility makes him somewhat appealing given that he can play out wide, up front of behind a striker, but Newcastle fans may be uninspired by this rumour.
The Italian, 27, has started just six games in all competitions this season, and his record with Sunderland wasn't impressive either, as he scored just seven goals in 53 games for the Black Cats.
Borini may be a relatively realistic signing for Newcastle though, even if he does appear to only be a fallback option if the Magpies can't land Atlanta United's Miguel Almiron next month.
