Psychonauts 2 appears to be a bigger and better sequel to Tim Schafer’s cult classic.
Double Fine and Starbreeze surprised their devoted fans by finally unveiling the first story focused trailer for Psychonauts 2 at the 2018 Game Awards. Filled with cutscenes and some platforming gameplay towards the end, the two-minute long trailer succeeded in whetting the appetites of gamers by establishing its story through the introduction of the Motherlobe.
The Motherlobe is the main headquarters for an international group of psychic superspies ten-year-old Razputin Aquato has joined. With the warning that there are ungodly secrets that should never be unearthed, and minds that should never be read, the long-awaited sequel promises to be an intense and unforgettable spectacle stuffed with creative worlds that coincidentally lead to fun platforming.
Having been delayed to 2018 last year, the trailer frustratingly ends with the vague assurance of a 2019 release. Fans pledged 3.8 million dollars towards Psychonauts 2 back in 2016, so hopefully the long wait finally comes to an end next year so we can all enjoy the follow-up to Tim Schafer’s quirky cult classic.
