Arsenal centre-back Rob Holding has been a revelation for Unai Emery's side this season. However, he suffered a potentially devastating blow against Manchester United.
Holding left the pitch at Old Trafford on a stretcher after succumbing to a knee injury and, according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal fear he could be out for the season.
The former Bolton Wanderers player's injury is potentially a damaged knee ligament.
It would be a crushing blow for club, player and potentially country, with the 23-year-old establishing himself as an integral cog in Emery's starting XI.
Composed on the ball and a good reader of the game, Holding is a major factor as to why Arsenal have gone 20 matches unbeaten.
Emery will now have to find a way to cope without this season's star defender for the North Londoners, and Arsenal fans have let their feelings be known on Twitter:
Terrible news regarding Rob Holding if true. Seems like he's out for the remainder of the season apparently. He has finally been given a solid run of games and he’s been outstanding. Absolutely gutted for him. I hope he can come back stronger. pic.twitter.com/WPAp5XBOJG— Mikhael Dolken (@MikhaelDolken88) December 6, 2018

Arsenal have famously been somewhat of a soft touch in recent seasons.
However, Holding has been a major part of their new found steel and, if he is out for the season, it would be a major blow for the Gunners in their hunt for a top-four finish.
