Five Premier League clubs - Cardiff City, Everton, West Ham United, Burnley and Leicester City - all reportedly watched Sala in action for Nantes in midweek.
The fact that Callum Paterson, a converted full-back, has been leading the line for Cardiff City in recent weeks means it is fairly obvious where Neil Warnock needs to strengthen heading into the January transfer window.
The Bluebirds have netted just 14 times in 15 games since their Premier League return. But, with their top flight status on the line, will Cardiff take the plunge and shatter their transfer record midway through the season?
According to the Mail, Warnock and assistant Kevin Blackwell were in attendance as the prolific Nantes striker Emiliano Sala took his tally to 13 Ligue 1 goals for the campaign in Wednesday’s 3-2 win against Marseille.
Sala is a man in demand right now and the 6ft 3ins target man looks a perfect fit for a direct Cardiff side who thrive on set-pieces. But the Mail adds that Nantes would demand £25 million for the Argentine.
Cardiff’s current record signing is Chilean ankle-biter Gary Medel; an £11 million addition from Sevilla in 2013.
The report adds that Burnley, Everton, Leicester and West Ham all sent scouts to watch Sala in action this week.
