Aston Villa fans will be desperate for their club to return to the top flight this season.

Jack Grealish of Aston Villa signs a new contract at Bodymoor Heath training ground on September 24, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Jack Grealish spoke exclusively to Sky Sports (broadcast on Thursday December 6th at 7:45 am), and insisted that Aston Villa's primary target this season is to secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

The Villans made a really poor start to their Championship campaign, but Dean Smith's arrival at the club has coincided with a real change in fortunes for them.

Aston Villa currently sit in eighth spot in the table, having taken 13 points from their last five league outings, and are three points adrift of the play-off places.

Eight points separate Villa and second placed Leeds, however, so Smith's side will have to embark on a seriously good run of form, if they are to catch up with the top two.

Grealish spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and made the bullish claim that Aston Villa are targeting the top two this season:

“Automatic promotion, that’s what we should be striving for. The players we’ve got here, the guys coming off the bench, we've got talent all in and around the squad, the only thing the players and all the staff are looking at is automatic promotion.”

Next up for Villa is a huge clash with West Brom at the Hawthorns tomorrow night, and Grealish will be hoping to help his team to another three points in their ongoing quest for promotion.

The way things are going, Villa will be full fo confidence, and it would be no surprise at all to see them secure a place inside the top two come what May.
