Leeds must consider giving Ryan Edmondson a run in the first team this month.
Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke has made a real breakthrough over the last fortnight, seizing on Ezgjan Alioski’s indifferent form.
Clarke looks like a special talent, and he is not the only young sensation at Leeds.
Young striker Ryan Edmondson is on the fringes of the first team. There are a number of reasons why Marcelo Bielsa should look to promote him this month.
Firstly this is a month where Leeds need help. There are a lot of fixtures, and squad rotation is key. Keeping Kemar Roofe fresh will be important.
Leeds should not rush Patrick Bamford back to first team action despite his recent under-23 return, and must wait until he is 100 per cent.
In the mean time Tyler Roberts and Edmondson should get another chance to show what they can do and help Leeds’ promotion cause.
In Edmondson’s case it is particularly strong because he has played with Clarke so frequently at under-23 level.
If Leeds are going with Clarke in the starting line-up, putting Edmondson in too could help him.
Edmondson is a target man with a sharp eye for goal, and he and Clarke can both help each other out and look better in the process.
There’s no harm in throwing them in separately, as Clarke is demonstrating, but starting Edmondson alongside could may end up making the young winger perform even better.
