HITC Sport understands Shrewsbury are eyeing Salford defensive duo Carl Piergianni and Ibou Touray.
Shrewsbury Town are lining up moves for Salford duo Carl Piergianni and Ibou Touray when the transfer window opens next month, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
League One strugglers Shrewsbury have made a new central defender and a left-back their main priorities in the transfer window and Piergianni and Touray are among their top targets.
The duo came on Shrewsbury’s radar when they impressed in their FA Cup second round clash against Salford which Shrewbury won after a replay.
New Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts is well aware of Piergianni and Touray having come up against the pair in the National League this season when he was manager of Wrexham.
Centre-back Piergianni joined Salford in the summer of 2017 and helped the club win promotion to the National League last season.
Piergianni has established himself as a big fan favourite at Salford and he has been an ever-present for Graham Alexander’s side this season as they look to win promotion to the Football League.
Former Everton youngster Ibou Touray has also established himself as a key player in the Salford side since joining in the summer of 2017 and his performances have alerted clubs higher up the football pyramid.
Salford are keen to keep hold of Piergianni and Touray as they look to maintain their push for promotion, but they are bracing themselves for interest in their players.
