Not for the first time, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Real Madrid star Kovacic, despite the fact he is currently on loan at Chelsea.

Mateo Kovacic might be plying his trade in the blue of Chelsea right now, but that has not stopped the Croatian midfielder from being linked once again with bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Kovacic has been heavily linked with Spurs since the summer of 2016 (AS) and it seems that the rumours have reared their head again with AS English responsible.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Chelsea from Real Madrid and it is understood that The Blues would jump at the chance to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
But, AS reports, Tottenham are hoping to hijack the move and have already declared their interest, with Mauricio Pochettino’s pursuit of a long-term Mousa Dembele replacement well documented.

Fortunately for both sides, Real Madrid are already planning to sell Kovacic in the summer, four years after they signed him from Serie A giants Inter Milan in a £26 million deal.
It remains to be seen how much Tottenham or Chelsea would have to pay to sign the dynamic midfielder, although AS claimed that Madrid rejected a £22 million bid from Spurs in the summer of 2017.
