Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United reportedly wanted to sign Brahim Diaz on loan from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested to BBC Sport that Brahim Diaz can leave if he wants to, and that should encourage Leeds United.

Back in June 2018, The Sun reported that Leeds United head coach Bielsa wanted to sign Diaz on loan from City in the summer of 2018.

Nothing materialised, but with Guardiola now suggesting, as quoted by BBC Sport, that the 19-year-old can leave if he chooses to, the Whites should make another attempt.

Diaz is a hugely talented and promising young midfielder, and there is no doubt that he would be a very good signing for Leeds.

The Championship club have suffered with injuries this season, and the 19-year-old would add to the depth of the squad at Elland Road that they need to sustain their challenge for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Moreover, Lewis Baker has struggled to make an impact since his loan move from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, and Diaz could help compensate for that.

Bielsa has a good relationship with Guardiola, and perhaps the Leeds head coach should look into making use of them and sign the youngster - who earns £8,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com - on loan in the summer transfer window.
