Rio Ferdinand has wished former Leeds United teammate Robbie Keane well in his retirement.

Keane announced he was quitting his playing career yesterday after two decades as a professional.

Ferdinand played alongside Keane in the early 2000s and shared magical memories during the club's European run.

The duo were roommates on away trips and Ferdinand still remembers his time with Keane well.

He reached out to Keane yesterday via Twitter to congratulate him on his decision.

As Ferdinand points out, he would go on to play against Keane several times in his career.

Keane was sold to Tottenham, later playing for Liverpool and Aston Villa, with Ferdinand joining Manchester United.

Later on Keane went to play in MLS with LA Galaxy where he is regarded as arguably the greatest overseas player of this generation.
