Alioski was caught diving during Leeds’ 1-0 win over Reading.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post as saying that “he always rejects cheating” after Gjanni Alioski was caught diving against Reading – and Leeds fans have reacted to his comments.

Alioski, 26, was hooked at half-time by the Argentine manager on Tuesday night as Leeds won 1-0 against Reading thanks to Stuart Dallas’ strike. Alioski was replaced by teenage star Jack Clarke.

The Macedonia international went down under the challenge of ex-Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori in the first half, but it as clear to everyone at Elland Road that the winger had dived. Referee Mike Dean gave him a yellow card.

Speaking in his pre-Sheffield United press conference on Thursday, Bielsa delivered a long-winded message on the Alioski dive – stating that he does not accept cheating but chose not to criticise Alioski.

“I never accept cheating, I always reject cheating,” Bielsa said. “Sometimes people think that cheating is a smart thing to do. From a personal point of view I wouldn’t want that in someone. My conclusion is I don’t want to criticise Alioski because I like him a lot.”

Alioski has been indifferent for Leeds this season, scoring three goals and creating three more in 20 league and cup appearances under Bielsa. Despite his inconsistency, he continues to start over Clarke and Jack Harrison.

Leeds fans reacted to Bielsa’s comments on Alioski, with the majority wanting the ex-Lugano man dropped from the starting line-up due to his actions.
