A number of Wigan fans have taken to Twitter to react after Paul Cook suggested, in comments by the Liverpool Echo, that Everton loanee Antonee Robinson is likely to be out for the next 10 weeks.
The 21-year-old sustained an ankle injury on international duty that ruled him out of the friendly with England at Wembley. And Cook has now suggested that Wigan now want a new left-back in January with Robinson likely to be sidelined for a significant period.
"We do have a genuine need for a left back come January and that's something we're already looking at."
Interestingly, the Wigan supporters do not appear to be overly disappointed with the news. Robinson has looked lively during his time at the DW Stadium, but it appears that some are unconvinced.
One supporter has been incredibly critical of Robinson's form. And while some have asked for a move for free agent Ashley Cole following his release from LA Galaxy, another name has also been mentioned a couple of times.
At Robinson's parent club, Leighton Baines is struggling for game-time, and some Wigan fans have suggested that Cook asks Everton if they could bring him back more than 11 years after his departure.
Here is the best of the reaction to Cook's comments on Robinson...
Baines isn’t getting a game these days.......— Stewart Hart (@No1fan__) November 27, 2018
Someone at Everton can’t get a game at the moment— Martyn Ode (@Martynode) November 27, 2018
We need so much more from a left back than the ability to put balls in the opposition box. Blessing in disguise this. One of the biggest frauds to wear a Wigan shirt this man. Will never forgive his walking round the pitch at Preston.— Steve (@stevetannWAFC) November 27, 2018
Happened while away with USA, didn't it? I just love international football :(— Peter Millward (@PeteMillward79) November 27, 2018
Does everything have to be a big joke to him? We all could see left back was an issue but he went and bought garner. His job to have appropriate backup . And please don't say naismith because he had one half decent game— Wigan Latics (@latics_wigan) November 27, 2018
